Sonja Aagesen is a PhD candidate and research associate at SFU in the Spatial Interface Research Lab under the supervision of Dr. Nick Hedley. Her research interests lie at the intersection of archeological and cultural heritage research, spatial analysis, and 3D geovisualization. Her doctoral research focuses on integrating augmented virtuality with kinesthetics (egocentric movement) to provide experiential spatial cognition of unvisited sites, using multi-modal interface devices. Her previous research has covered spatial analysis of Paleo-Indian territories at the end of the Ice Age as well as complex agent based modelling of Neolithic agricultural land use. She has also been the recipient of two SSHRC grants.
