Student Researcher
Josh Labove is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Geography at Simon Fraser University. His research is focused on borders–both as a geopolitical production but also as a means of discussing inclusion and exclusion within Canadian urban life. Under the supervision of Nicholas Blomley, his work considers how the Supreme Court of Canada shapes through decision-making the space of the Canada-US border as a site of security, surveillance, and sovereignty. With a focus on post-9/11 ideologies of threat mitigation, Josh’s research aims to see the multiplicity of laws at work on the unique space of our national boundaries.
